Ingredients
 

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup steak sauce like A1 or similar
  • 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese or mozzarella if preferred
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional for serving: extra cheese pickled jalapeños, or sautéed mushrooms

Instructions

Cook the Meat and Veggies:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  • Drain any excess fat and return the skillet to the heat.
  • Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook, stirring, until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper.

Make the Sauce:
