Recipe Steps for Cinnamon Bread

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy. Add flour, salt, and butter to form a dough, then knead until smooth. Cover and let it rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Make the Cinnamon Sugar Mix: In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
  3. Roll and Fill: Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture generously over the top.
  4. Shape the Loaf: Roll up the dough tightly, starting from the short end, to form a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan and let it rise again for 30-40 minutes.
  5. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing.

Storage Options

  • Room Temperature: Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze: Wrap in plastic wrap and foil, then freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature and enjoy.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Prepare the Bread:
  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.

  • Create the Swirl: Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter by making figure-8 patterns or zigzags through the batter.
  • Bake the Bread:
  • Bake: Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Optional Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
  • Brush with Butter: Once the bread is cooled, brush the top with melted butter.
  • Sprinkle Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon sugar with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and sprinkle it over the buttered top for an extra cinnamon crunch.
  • Serve:
  • Slice the cinnamon bread and serve as a delicious breakfast, snack, or dessert. It pairs wonderfully with coffee or tea!
