  • 4 lb pork shoulder boneless
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 0.5 cup apple cider vinegar

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  • Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  • Place the pork shoulder into the slow cooker.
  • Pour the barbecue sauce and apple cider vinegar over the pork.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and shreds easily with a fork.
  • Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred with two forks.
  • Return shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with the juices.
  • Serve with additional barbecue sauce on the side.

Notes

Serve this pulled pork on buns with coleslaw for a classic combo or alongside mashed potatoes and green beans for a hearty meal.
