3/4cupcold buttermilkor use 3/4 cup milk + 1 tsp lemon juice
Optional topping: 2 tablespoons melted butter mixed with a pinch of garlic and parsley
Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Set oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.
Cut in the Butter:
Add cold, cubed butter to the dry mix. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add Cheese & Buttermilk:
Stir in the shredded cheddar, then gently fold in the buttermilk until just combined. Don’t overmix—it's okay if the dough is a little shaggy.
Scoop & Bake:
Drop heaping spoonfuls of dough (or use a large cookie scoop) onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden and crisp on top.
Brush with Butter (Optional):
Right out of the oven, brush the tops with melted butter mixed with garlic and parsley for an extra savory finish.
