Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil; stir until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and allow to rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
Punch down the dough, then mix in garlic and herbs evenly.
Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cover and let rise for another 20 minutes. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
Brush the loaf with olive oil. Make slashes on top with a sharp knife, then bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Bread is best served warm, straight from the oven or lightly reheated.
