Ingredients
 

  • 1 cup 0.5 lbs long-grain white rice (uncooked)
  • 1 can 10.5 oz / 0.65 lbs condensed cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 ½ cups 0.75 lbs water or chicken broth
  • **2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional mix-ins: shredded cheddar cheese sautéed onions or mushrooms, chopped parsley, or frozen peas

Instructions

  • Combine Ingredients:
  • In a medium saucepan, combine rice, condensed soup, water or broth, butter, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Bring to a Boil:
  • Stir and bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  • Simmer:
  • Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Finish & Serve:
  • Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
  • Fluff with a fork, stir in any optional add-ins, and serve warm.
