Ingredients
 

  • For the Beef Filling:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup 0.25 lbs beef broth
  • ½ cup 0.25 lbs frozen peas or corn (optional)
  • For the Cheddar Bay Biscuit Topping:
  • 1 package 11 oz / 0.7 lbs Cheddar Bay biscuit mix (such as Red Lobster brand)
  • ¾ cup 0.38 lbs milk
  • ½ cup 0.25 lbs shredded cheddar cheese
  • **2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
  • Set oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9x9-inch or medium casserole dish.
  • Cook the Beef Mixture:
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned and cooked through (about 6–8 minutes).
  • Stir in garlic, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir until coated.
  • Pour in beef broth and simmer for 2–3 minutes, until thickened. Stir in frozen veggies if using.
  • Transfer to the baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  • Make the Biscuit Topping:
  • In a medium bowl, mix the Cheddar Bay biscuit mix with milk and shredded cheddar cheese until just combined.
  • Drop spoonfuls of biscuit dough over the beef mixture.
  • Bake:
  • Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and cooked through.
  • Garlic Butter Finish:
  • Mix melted butter with garlic powder and parsley. Brush over the biscuits as soon as the cobbler comes out of the oven.
  • Serve:
  • Let sit for 5 minutes, then dig in and enjoy warm!
