Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and granulated sugar, continuing to beat until well combined.
  • Add Vanilla: Mix in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
  • Mix Together: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. The dough will be soft and slightly sticky.
  • Shape the Cookies: Using a piping bag fitted with a large star tip or a cookie scoop, pipe or drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. If desired, sprinkle the tops with colored sugar or sprinkles.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are just lightly golden. The centers should remain pale.
  • Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
