Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar plus extra for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans, optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 cup of powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add Vanilla and Condensed Milk: Mix in the vanilla extract and sweetened condensed milk until well combined.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and chopped nuts (if using).
  • Mix Everything Together: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. The dough will be soft but manageable.
  • Shape the Cookies: Using your hands, roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden. The tops should remain pale.
  • Cool and Dust: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. While they are still warm, dust them generously with powdered sugar.
  • Serve: Let the snowballs cool completely before serving. Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
