Ingredients
 

  • 6 –8 medium apples such as Golden Delicious, Fuji, or Gala, peeled, cored, and thickly sliced
  • ½ cup 0.25 lbs brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup 0.12 lbs granulated sugar
  • **1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • **¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • **¼ teaspoon salt
  • **2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • ¼ cup 0.12 lbs unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional, for thickening
  • ¼ cup 0.12 lbs apple juice or water

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apples:
  • Peel, core, and slice the apples into thick wedges. Add them to the slow cooker.
  • Add Flavor:
  • Sprinkle the apples with brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice.
  • Toss lightly to coat.
  • Add Liquid & Butter:
  • Pour apple juice (or water) over the apples.
  • Dot the top with butter cubes.
  • Cook:
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 3–4 hours, or until the apples are fork-tender but not falling apart.
  • If you want a thicker sauce, whisk the cornstarch with a tablespoon of water and stir it in during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • Serve:
  • Serve warm as a side dish, dessert, or topping for biscuits, ice cream, waffles, or pork!
