  • 1.5 lb ground beef lean, at least 85% lean
  • 1 cup onion diced
  • 1 cup bell pepper diced, any color
  • 2 cups sloppy joe sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 16 oz tater tots frozen
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper freshly ground

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add diced onions and bell peppers to the skillet and cook until softened.
  • Stir in the sloppy joe sauce and season with salt and pepper. Reduce heat and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Transfer the beef mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with a layer of frozen tater tots.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are crispy and cheese is melted.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture.
