Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper diced (optional)
  • 1 cup sloppy joe sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1 can 8 oz refrigerated biscuit dough (such as Pillsbury)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey, breaking it apart with a spoon. Add the diced onion and bell pepper (if using) and cook until the vegetables are softened.
  • Add Sloppy Joe Sauce: Stir in the sloppy joe sauce, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer for a few minutes until heated through.
  • Prepare the Biscuit Dough: Open the can of biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters.
  • Assemble the Casserole: In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spread the meat mixture evenly. Top with the biscuit pieces, spreading them out to cover the meat as much as possible.
  • Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Cool and Serve: Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
