Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter cold, cut into small pieces
  • 0.5 cup pumpkin puree canned or homemade
  • 0.25 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Add the cold butter pieces and mix using a pastry cutter or fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface, and gently knead a few times to bring it together. Pat into a circle about 1 inch thick.
  • Cut into 8 wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on the edges. Remove from oven and let cool.

Notes

Enjoy your scones warm or at room temperature. Perfect with a cup of tea or coffee.
