Instructions
Preparation Steps
Bring water and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan. Slowly whisk in the polenta and reduce heat to low.
Cook the polenta, stirring frequently, until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in butter.
Pour the polenta into a greased baking dish and let cool until firm, about 30 minutes.
In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the apple slices until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
Cut the cooled polenta into cakes and top each with sautéed apples and shredded cheddar cheese.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 10 minutes. Serve warm.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese or add spices to suit your taste.
