  • 6 cups day-old bread, cubed preferably sourdough
  • 8 oz prosciutto thinly sliced
  • 1 lb asparagus trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 10 large eggs beaten
  • 2 cups milk whole milk preferred
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper freshly ground

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and spread half of the bread cubes in an even layer.
  • Layer half of the prosciutto and asparagus over the bread. Repeat layers with remaining bread, prosciutto, and asparagus.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, Parmesan cheese, and black pepper. Pour evenly over the layered bread mixture.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the strata uncovered for 45 minutes or until the top is golden and the center is set.

Notes

This dish can be prepped in advance and baked just before serving for a stress-free breakfast.
