  • 1 pound ground beef 85% lean
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce choose your favorite
  • 0.5 cup onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 8 ounces rotini pasta uncooked
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  • Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in BBQ sauce, beef broth, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Add the penne pasta, stir well to combine, and cover. Reduce heat to low and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  • Turn off the heat and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover and let sit for a few minutes until the cheese has melted.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Feel free to add additional vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for more texture and flavor.
