Instructions
Prep the Potato Mixture:
In a large bowl, combine mashed potatoes, egg, shredded cheese, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and chives (if using).
Mix until well combined. If the mixture is too soft, stir in a bit of flour or breadcrumbs until it can be easily shaped.
Shape the Puffs:
Scoop and roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. If desired, roll lightly in flour or breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.
Choose Your Cooking Method:
Frying Method:
Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Fry potato puffs in batches for 2–3 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
Baking Method:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Place puffs on a parchment-lined baking sheet and spray generously with oil or cooking spray.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.
Air Fryer Method:
Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Spray puffs with oil and cook for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway through.
Serve Hot:
Enjoy warm with dipping sauces like sour cream, ranch, or spicy ketchup.
