Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
Remove giblets from the turkey cavity. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
Rub the melted butter all over the turkey. Season with salt, pepper, rosemary, and thyme.
Place the lemon and onion inside the turkey cavity.
Tie the legs together with kitchen twine. Tuck the wing tips under the body.
Place the turkey on a roasting rack set in a roasting pan.
Roast the turkey for approximately 4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute.
Notes
For the best results, baste the turkey with its juices every hour while roasting.
