Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Combine Wet and Dry:
Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in batches, alternating with the milk.
Mix just until combined—do not overmix.
Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool and Serve:
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
