Ingredients

  • Doritos: 1 large bag about 9.75 to 11 oz, choose your favorite flavor
  • Ground beef: 1 lb 450g
  • Taco seasoning: 1 packet or 2-3 tablespoons homemade
  • Water: 1/2 cup for the taco seasoning
  • Cheddar cheese: 2 cups shredded
  • Monterey Jack cheese: 1 cup shredded (or use a blend of your favorite cheeses)
  • Jalapeños: 1-2 sliced (adjust to taste)
  • Black olives: 1/2 cup sliced
  • Tomatoes: 1 medium diced
  • Green onions: 2-3 sliced
  • Sour cream: for serving
  • Guacamole: for serving
  • Salsa: for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Get a large baking sheet or oven-proof dish ready.

Cook the Ground Beef:

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it's no longer pink, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat and let it cook until the mixture has thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

Prepare the Nachos:

  • Spread a layer of Doritos on the baking sheet or dish, creating a base for your nachos. You might not use the entire bag, depending on the size of your dish.
  • Spoon the seasoned ground beef evenly over the Doritos.
  • Sprinkle both the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses over the top of the beef.
  • Add the sliced jalapeños and black olives (and any other toppings you’d like to heat up).

Bake the Nachos:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.

Add Fresh Toppings:

  • Once out of the oven, top the nachos with the diced tomatoes, sliced green onions, and any other fresh toppings you prefer.

Serve:

  • Serve the Doritos nachos immediately while hot, with sides of sour cream, guacamole, and salsa for guests to add to their liking.
