  • 2 cups shredded white American cheese available at most grocery stores
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 small jalapeño seeded and diced
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 0.25 cup diced tomatoes optional, for garnish
  • 0.25 cup chopped cilantro optional, for garnish

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the diced jalapeño and sauté for 2 minutes until softened.
  • Reduce the heat to low and add the half and half to the saucepan.
  • Gradually stir in the shredded white American cheese, mixing until it’s completely melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
  • Serve hot, garnished with diced tomatoes and cilantro if desired.

Notes

Serve with chips for dipping. For a spicier version, keep the seeds in the jalapeño.
