  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef can substitute with ground turkey
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 small bell pepper chopped
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 can diced tomatoes 14 oz
  • 1 can red kidney beans 15 oz, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can black beans 15 oz, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the pot. Cook until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, beef broth, and tomato paste. Stir to combine.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Adjust seasoning if needed and serve hot.

Notes

This chili tastes even better the next day! Feel free to garnish with shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped cilantro.
