  • 1.5 lb beef round steak cut into serving-sized pieces
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for coating
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 large onions sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth low sodium
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp butter optional, for extra richness
  • 2 tbsp parsley fresh, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Season the steak pieces with salt and black pepper.
  • Dredge the steak in flour, shaking off excess.
  • In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat and brown steak on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add onions and sauté until softened.
  • Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Bring to a simmer.
  • Return the steak to the skillet, cover, and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 30 minutes until meat is tender.
  • Stir in butter, if using. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding sliced mushrooms or bell peppers to the onions.
