Ingredients
 

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 onion finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper diced (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard yellow or Dijon
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 1 16 oz can refrigerated biscuit dough or 3 cups cooked elbow macaroni

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:
  • Set oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Cook the Beef:
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper until the meat is browned and veggies are soft—about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  • Add Sauce Ingredients:
  • Stir in garlic, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire, mustard, and brown sugar. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Assemble the Casserole:
  • For biscuit topping: Pour the beef mixture into the baking dish, top with 1 cup shredded cheese, then place biscuit dough pieces evenly over the top.
  • For pasta version: Mix cooked pasta into the beef mixture, pour into dish, and top with cheese.
  • Bake:
  • Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until biscuits are golden and cooked through or cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve:
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley or extra cheese if desired.

Notes

You can add more veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.
