  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon green food coloring liquid or gel
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Add green food coloring and mix until the dough reaches the desired shade.
  • Roll out dough to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut using shamrock-shaped cookie cutters.
  • Place cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool on a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

These cookies can also be decorated with royal icing for a more festive look.
