  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter optional

Preparation Steps

  • Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  • In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add salt and butter if using.
  • Stir in the rice and reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 18-20 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.

Notes

For a richer taste, substitute water with chicken or vegetable broth.
