Preparation Steps
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add salt and butter if using.
Stir in the rice and reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 18-20 minutes.
Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
Notes
For a richer taste, substitute water with chicken or vegetable broth.
