  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1.5 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups butter melted
  • 1 cup caramel sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour for the caramel sauce
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans optional

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine 2.5 cups flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir in melted butter until evenly moistened.
  • Press half of the oat mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake the pressed mixture in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
  • Mix caramel sauce with 3 tablespoons of flour. Pour over the baked crust.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips and pecans over the caramel layer.
  • Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the top.
  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  • Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

For a nuttier flavor, try toasting the pecans before using them.
