  • 2 lbs butternut squash peeled and cubed
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg ground
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream warmed

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Boil a large pot of water and add the cubed butternut squash. Cook until tender, about 30 minutes.
  • Drain the squash and return it to the pot. Add butter, salt, black pepper, nutmeg, and heavy cream.
  • Mash the mixture using a potato masher or hand blender until smooth.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve warm.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute the butter and cream with plant-based alternatives.
