  • 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar

  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup fresh basil leaves thinly sliced
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for heat

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Wash and dry the tomatoes. Cut them into wedges or slices, depending on your preference.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, kosher salt, black pepper, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Add the tomato slices to the bowl and gently toss to coat them completely in the marinade.
  • Add the fresh basil leaves and gently mix them into the marinated tomatoes.
  • Cover the bowl and let the tomatoes marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
