  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper or to taste
  • 0.25 cup chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Preparation Steps

  • Add the onion and celery. Sauté until onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the chicken broth, dried sage, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  • Add the cubed bread and mix until bread is evenly coated and liquid is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 5 minutes.
  • Fluff with a fork, add parsley, and serve warm.
