Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups warm water about 110°F
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour extra for kneading
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup olive oil plus more for drizzling
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary leaves chopped

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Stir in the flour, salt, and 0.25 cup olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.
  • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-6 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Punch down the dough and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Shape it into a rectangle.
  • Drizzle with additional olive oil, sprinkle with coarse sea salt and rosemary. Press fingertips into the dough to create dimples.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until the focaccia is golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

You can add additional toppings like olives, sun-dried tomatoes, or caramelized onions for variation.
