Instructions
Preparation Steps
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the pork shoulder with cumin, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Sear the pork shoulder in the skillet until all sides are browned, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Transfer the seared pork to a slow cooker. Add garlic, onion, jalapeño, orange juice, and lime juice.
Cover and cook on low heat for 7-8 hours, or until fork-tender.
Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
Optional: To crisp the meat, spread the shredded pork on a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes until crispy.
Notes
You can serve these carnitas with tortillas, cilantro, onions, and avocado for a complete meal.
