  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can diced tomatoes 14.5 oz
  • 1 can kidney beans 15 oz, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 8 pieces hot dogs your choice of beef, turkey, or veggie
  • 8 pieces hot dog buns
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese for garnish
  • 0.5 cup diced onions for garnish

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  • In the crockpot, combine the cooked ground beef, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • In the last 30 minutes of cooking, add the hot dogs to the crockpot to heat through.
  • Serve the hot dogs in buns and top with chili, shredded cheddar cheese, and diced onions.

Notes

For a spicier chili, add more chili powder or include diced jalapeños.
