  • 1.5 lbs beef flank steak sliced into thin strips
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch for coating
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp ginger grated
  • 2 tsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 2 tbsp scallions sliced for garnish
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Toss the beef strips with cornstarch in a bowl and set aside.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef strips and fry until crispy and golden brown. Remove and drain excess oil.
  • In the same skillet, remove excess oil leaving about a tablespoon. Add garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds.
  • Pour in the orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and orange zest. Stir and simmer until sauce thickens slightly.
  • Return the beef to the skillet. Toss to coat evenly in the sauce.
  • Serve hot, garnished with scallions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra zest, add additional orange zest to taste. Serve with steamed rice for a complete meal.
