Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs until fluffy.
Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Stir in the chocolate chips and coconut.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets.
Bake in the preheated oven until the edges are golden brown, about 9 to 11 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

For a richer flavor, you can toast the coconut in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden before mixing it into the batter.
