This easy and delicious cinnamon-baked apples recipe is perfect for a warm and comforting dessert. With simple ingredients and minimal preparation, it's a treat for any occasion.
4large appleslike Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith
1/4lb1/2 stick unsalted butter, melted
1/3cuplight brown sugar
1/2cupold-fashioned oats
1/4cupchopped pecans or walnutsoptional
1/2teaspoonground cinnamon
1/4teaspoonground nutmeg
1teaspoonvanilla extract
Pinchof salt
1/2cupwater or apple ciderfor the baking dish
Instructions
Prep the Apples:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash and core the apples, making a well in the center but not cutting all the way through. Use a spoon or melon baller to scoop out the seeds.
Make the Filling:
In a bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, salt, and nuts (if using). Mix until crumbly and moist.
Stuff the Apples:
Spoon the filling into the center of each apple, pressing it in and mounding a little extra on top.
Bake:
Place apples upright in a baking dish. Pour water or cider into the bottom of the dish. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking uncovered for another 15–20 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the tops are golden.
