  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter cold, cut into cubes
  • 0.75 cups chocolate chips semi-sweet
  • 0.75 cups heavy cream plus extra for brushing
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together heavy cream and vanilla extract. Add to dry ingredients and stir just until moistened.
  • Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Shape into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into 8 wedges.
  • Place wedges on prepared baking sheet. Brush tops with extra cream.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
