Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef, cooking until onions are soft.
Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and milk, and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
Spread the beef mixture in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
Arrange tater tots in a single layer over the cheese layer.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, until tater tots are crispy.
Sprinkle the remaining cup of cheese on top and return to oven until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.
Serve hot with ketchup on the side, if desired.
