  • 6 cups apples, peeled and sliced preferably Granny Smith
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup cold butter, cut into cubes unsalted
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for topping
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, and ground cinnamon.
  • Transfer apple mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In another bowl, mix cold butter, oats, brown sugar, 1 cup flour, baking powder, and salt until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle oat mixture over apple mixture evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
  • Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a slightly tart flavor, use Granny Smith apples.
