  • 1.5 cups chickpea flour also known as besan
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon turmeric
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables e.g., chopped onions, potatoes, spinach
  • 1 cup oil for frying

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a mixing bowl, add chickpea flour, salt, turmeric, and red chili powder.
  • Slowly add water and mix until a thick batter forms.
  • Fold in chopped green chilies and mixed vegetables.
  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown.
  • Remove pakoras from oil and drain on paper towels.

Notes

Serve pakoras immediately for best results. They can be enjoyed with mint chutney or ketchup.
