  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 each large ripe avocado peeled and sliced
  • 4 each burger buns toasted
  • 0.5 cup red onion thinly sliced
  • 4 slice cheddar cheese optional
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise for spreading
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
  • Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness.
  • During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
  • Toast the burger buns lightly on a griddle or in a toaster.
  • Spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun, add the cooked patty with melted cheese, top with avocado slices and red onion.
  • Cover with the top bun and serve immediately.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add jalapeños or chipotle mayo.
