Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness.
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
Toast the burger buns lightly on a griddle or in a toaster.
Spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun, add the cooked patty with melted cheese, top with avocado slices and red onion.
Cover with the top bun and serve immediately.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add jalapeños or chipotle mayo.
