How to Make Steak & Shrimp Teriyaki Noodles

Ingredients

Scale

For the Teriyaki Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

For the Dish:

  • 8 ounces flat noodles (e.g., udon, linguine, or your choice)
  • 1/2 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce:

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together soy sauce, water, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, honey (or maple syrup), and sesame oil. Bring to a simmer.
  2. Thicken Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch mixture and continue to simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cook the Noodles:

  1. Boil Noodles: Cook the noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Cook the Steak and Shrimp:

  1. Season: Lightly season the steak slices and shrimp with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook Steak: Add the steak and cook for about 2-3 minutes until it’s browned but still slightly pink in the center. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Cook Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté the Vegetables:

  1. More Oil: Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet.
  2. Cook Vegetables: Add the bell pepper, onion, and broccoli. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are just tender.

Combine:

  1. Combine: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the cooked noodles and pour the teriyaki sauce over everything. Toss well to combine and ensure everything is coated in the sauce.
  2. Heat Through: Cook everything together for an additional 1-2 minutes, until heated through.

Serve:

  1. Garnish: Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the top.
  2. Enjoy: Serve the steak and shrimp teriyaki noodles hot, offering extra teriyaki sauce on the side if desired.
