- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken:
- Place the chicken thighs or breasts in the slow cooker.
- Make the Sauce:
- In a bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and onion until well combined.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken in the slow cooker, making sure the chicken is well coated.
- Cook:
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
- Thicken the Sauce:
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and set it aside.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the water to create a slurry.
- Stir the cornstarch slurry into the sauce in the slow cooker. Increase the heat to high and let the sauce thicken for about 15-20 minutes.
- Serve:
- Return the chicken to the slow cooker and coat with the thickened sauce.
- Serve the honey garlic chicken over rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
