Delicious Peanut Butter Paw Print Cookies for Pet Lovers

Ingredients

For the Cookies:

  • Unsalted butter, softened: 115g (1/2 cup; 0.25 lb) – provides a rich base for the cookies.
  • Creamy peanut butter: 190g (3/4 cup; 0.42 lb) – gives the cookies their distinct flavor.
  • Granulated sugar: 100g (1/2 cup; 0.22 lb) – adds sweetness.
  • Brown sugar, packed: 100g (1/2 cup; 0.22 lb) – contributes to the cookies’ moisture and depth of flavor.
  • Egg: 1 large (about 50g; 0.11 lb) – binds the ingredients together.
  • Vanilla extract: 1 tsp (5ml; 0.01 lb) – enhances the flavor.
  • All-purpose flour: 250g (2 cups; 0.55 lb) – forms the dough of the cookies.
  • Baking soda: 1/2 tsp (2.5g; 0.005 lb) – helps the cookies rise.
  • Salt: 1/4 tsp (1.5g; 0.003 lb) – balances the sweetness.

For Decoration:

  • Chocolate chips or chocolate candy pieces: To create the “paw prints” on each cookie.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars:
    • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy. This process introduces air into the mix, contributing to the cookies’ texture.
  3. Add Egg and Vanilla:
    • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture, beating until a soft dough forms.
  5. Shape and Bake:
    • Roll the dough into balls, about 1 tablespoon (15g; 0.03 lb) each. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, spaced about 2 inches apart.
    • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The cookies should be soft to the touch but will firm up as they cool.
  6. Add Paw Prints:
    • Immediately after removing the cookies from the oven, gently press chocolate chips or chocolate candy pieces into the top of each cookie to resemble a paw print. Use a larger piece for the center and smaller pieces for the toes.
  7. Cool:
    • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
